Holy Smoke Bar-B-Que Showdown

The Fifth Annual Holy Smoke Bar-B-Que Showdown will be held again at the former football field west of the Holy Cross Abbey, on East Highway 50 in Cañon City, CO. Click Here for a map. The events will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 1 and continue through the evening. We will soon post the full schedule of events and a lineup of bands for the weekend, so please keep an eye on our web site! Saturday’s events will kick off at 8:00 am Saturday, June 2th, and wrap up just after 11 pm that night! 

The annual "Hot Diggity Dog" Weenie Dog Race will also be held on Saturday afternoon - this has been the BIG draw at the previous Holy Smoke events, and we had another "hot time at the track" this year!  We'll have the 2012 "Hot Diggity" Race information and entry forms available soon!

New in 2011:  We had the honor of having the Royal Gorge Lions Club of Cañon City bring their annual "Brain Freeze" home-made ice cream contest to our event, so we enjoyed some incredible flavors at the "Brain Freeze" from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday, June 3, at the Holy Smoke Field!  Thanks for coming out and supporting the Royal Gorge Lions Club and their great event to help their many terrific causes!  For more info on the "Brain Freeze," please contact Lion Mike Starika at (719) 275-8556.

The event is produced as a community fundraiser by the all-volunteer “Fremont Community Foundation.” We also put on the annual Holy Cow Blues Festival (formerly the Belvedere Blues Festival), and all the money that we raise is distributed each year to non-profit groups throughout Fremont County. We hope you can join us at the Fifth Annual Holy Smoke Bar-B-Que Showdown in 2012!  It will be another great community fundraiser, and we guarantee you'll love our hot music and smokin'-good food!
